CSAFP orders Army Brigade to reposition to Western Mindanao
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. has ordered the reposition of the 501st Infantry (Valiant) Brigade and its attached units from Northern Luzon to Western Mindanao to further strengthen the nation’s security posture in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Sulu.

The 501st Brigade’s previous area of operations include the Provinces of Kalinga, Apayao, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya and Benguet including Baguio. The AFP has already successfully turned-over the responsibility of addressing insurgency to these local governments of Northern Luzon. As a result of this, the AFP is exercising its flexibility by realigning our units so that we can focus our security operations in areas that are more affected by armed conflicts.
Two (2) Army Infantry Battalions are also set to move alongside the 501st Brigade. The 21stInfantry (Invincible) Battalion and the 41st Infantry (Partner for Peace) Battalion will be repositioned in the Zamboanga Peninsula while the 501st Brigade is set to establish its headquarters in Sulu.
This is a redeployment that is part of an ongoing plan which is anchored on our mandate to address internal and external security situations. Our assurance is that we will all benefit from this move.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—Lieutenant Colonel Ramon P Zagala relinquished his post at 9 a.m. today, September 30, as Chief of the Public Affairs Office, Armed Forces of the Philippines, capping over a year of service as a spokesperson of the military organization.
The post was relinquished to LtCol Harold M Cabunoc, current Commander of the 7thCivil Relations Group, in a simple ceremony presided by the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff LtGen Virgilio O Domingo at the General Headquarters here.

The Philippine Air Force soared high in the AFP-PNP Olympics. Blood, sweat, sheer talent, discipline and a heart full of determination had been the motivation of the athletes this season. General Gregorio Pio P. NPA Landmines Convoy of Ambulances in Davao Del Sur; 5 Civilians Wounded

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Five civilians were wounded after a landmine planted by the New People’s Army (NPA) exploded last night in Bansalan town, in Davao Del Sur.
At about 7:30 pm yesterday, March 2, 2014, a convoy of ambulances from Davao Del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) headed by Bonita Dela Cruz, Red Cross Davao del Sur Chapter headed by Winston Malinao and 39th Infantry Battalion (39IB) ambulance led by 1lt Allan Dale Ibones, while heading towards Sitio Balutakay, Brgy. Managa, Bansalan was hit by a landmine planted by NPA rebels belonging to its Guerilla Front 51, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) under an alias ‘Rangrang’ in Sitio Tower of said barangay.
